Florida has announced the signings of power forward Patric Young and small forward Casey Prather for its 2010-11 men's basketball class.
"We've very excited that both Patric and Casey have chosen the Univeristy of Florida," Florida coach Billy Donovan said. "They are two really talented players that bring athleticism and the competitive mindset we're looking for."
Rivals.com and Scout.com rates the 6-foot-9, 225-pound Young as the fifth-best power forward in the nation. Young averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game last season at Paxon High in Jacksonville. Young has transferred to Providence School in Jacksonville for his senior year.
"Patric gives us size, strength and a physical presence in our frontcourt and plays with great passion and energy," Donovan said.
Prather, a 6-5 swingman from Jackson, Tenn., averaged 24.4 points and 14 rebounds last season. Scout.com rates Prather as the 10th overall small forward in the country.
"Casey gives us an athletic wing that can defend," Donovan said. "He's a very good passer and improves our length on the perimeter."
