Gainesville Sun columnist Pat Dooley grades the Gators on offense, defense and special teams.
OFFENSE: C
First half: The Gators had 163 yards — only 80 of those rushing — on five possessions, and their only touchdown came on fourth down after a turnover.
Second half: Florida managed 212 yards but couldn't take advantage of the longest gain of the game on a pass from Tim Tebow to Aaron Hernandez.
For the game: There was some predictability in the offense again against a defense that was shredded a week ago by Georgia Tech.
DEFENSE: A
First half: Florida shut Vanderbilt out in the half and played well after struggling on the Commodores' first possession.
Second half: The Gators had some issues at the start of the second half, as Vandy drove 44 yards for its only score of the game.
For the game: Charlie Strong's defense came up with only one turnover but allowed only 199 total yards in another dominating performance.
SPECIAL TEAMS: A
First half: UF did an excellent job containing explosive kickoff returner Warren Norman, but Chris Rainey whiffed on a tackle after the Vandy punter dropped a snap at the end of the half.
Second half: Brandon James looked like he might break one but just couldn't find the second gear he needed or break one more tackle to shake loose.
For the game: Another good night for Caleb Sturgis and the coverage teams did a wonderful job containing Norman. The biggest special teams play was a Vandy goof.
OVERALL: B+
The Gators are 9-0, know who they will be playing in Atlanta and kept their win streak alive at 19 straight. That's all that matters.

Does a "C" letter grade and the term "some predictability", mean you are criticising this offense? Dooley you share a ton of great information about the Gators, but you don't call them out when they aren't even trying to be creative.
This team is EXTREMELY talented on offense! The same team that beat BAMA w/out Murphy, but the coaches have not done anything to develop talent this year! The coaches need to step up!

The offense should have a KC rating instead if a c rating.
The offense looked more like the keystone cops than a Florida offense.
When the offense is clicking the quarterback gets the praise, when the offense plays like the keystone cops the quarterback should get the blame.I did not see Brantley having a problem finding someone to throw the ball to the few minutes he was allowed to play.

I believe the defense will keep us in every game including the SECC in Atlanta. During that game, there will be one or two very important game-deciding plays for the offense. Will they be able to dig deep and make them happen?

Giving this clunky, predictable offense a "C" is a big stretch. Without a lights out defense this team would be .500 with this ugly, prodding offense.

How did he grade the questions he asked Meyer this week?

I would agree with Dooley and maybe add a plus sign. It wasn't that bad - wasn't that good.
Say what you will about Dooley but he's been around the Gators for a long time. He has a lot of perspective.

I still feel that Pat Dookie owes Coach Meyer $15,000.

Good thing it's a team sport. If you had to only choose one, which would you have: Houston's offense, or our defense? I think it's pretty obvious. Where did our high-scoring offense get us in 2007? 9-4. That's where.
