After this wild week off the field, Florida gets back to doing what it has done best for more than a year — play football.

Top-ranked Florida, the defending national champions and owners of a nation-best 18-game winning streak, hosts unranked Vanderbilt at 7:15 p.m. today.

The Gators will play without their defensive leader, senior middle linebacker Brandon Spikes, who was suspended Monday for a half of today’s game for sticking his hand inside the facemask of a Georgia player last week. UF and Spikes made it a full-game suspension Wednesday.

“Distractions are part of the deal,” UF coach Urban Meyer said. “I’m trying to think of a game where we didn’t have a distraction this year. We’re a perfect 8-0.”
