ORLANDO, Fla. — A second federal corrections officer in central Florida has been accused of helping arrange the beating death of an inmate.

Michael Kennedy was indicted on conspiracy charges and posted $50,000 bond Monday.

Prosecutors say Kennedy and Erin Sharma in 2008 moved Richard Delano into a cell with an inmate nicknamed "Animal," who beat up every one of his previous cellmates. It was alleged retaliation for Delano's assault against Sharma a week earlier at the Sumter County facility.

Days after the change, Delano was beaten into a coma and died.

Sharma was sentenced last week to life in prison on the same conspiracy charge the Inverness man now faces.

A woman who answered the phone at Kennedy's home said he had no comment.
