Camera captures inmate attack on Hillsborough County guard

TAMPA, Fla. — A surveillance camera recorded the brutal attack on a jail guard by an inmate in Tampa.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said detention deputy Kenneth Moon escaped serious injury in the attack Monday because other inmates came to his aid.

The sheriff's office says the 64-year-old Moon was working at his desk in a jail pod when inmate Douglas Emanuel Burden charged him, put him in a choke hold and began strangling him.

Other inmates rushed to Moon's aid, and one grabbed his radio and called for help.

The 24-year-old Burden was in jail in drug charges.
