A teen arrested for a burglary on Monday afternoon also got charged for skipping school.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, a resident of the 2200 block of Southeast 34th Terrace arrived home at 4:15 p.m. Monday and realized their home had been burglarized. The resident called 911 and Deputy Brian Ritter and his K9 partner Razar were dispatched.

After Razar walked through the home to insure the burglar was gone, he led Ritter through a wooded area to a nearby apartment.

"The deputies got consent to search the apartment and recovered several items reported stolen from this burglary and several items that were taken during some other recent burglaries," said sheriff's spokesman Art Forgey.

A 17 year old at the apartment was arrested and charged with burglary, larceny and violating his probation in a previous case because he did not attend school as required on Monday.

Forgey said the teen was turned over to juvenile authorities.
