The interim dean of University of Florida's College of Public Health and Health Professions had been given the job. UF announced Tuesday that Michael G. Perri would be appointed dean effective Friday. He has served in an interim role since June 2007.
Perri joined the college's faculty in 1990. A professor of clinical and health psychology, his research has focused on obesity, including current studies on managing obesity in rural communities. He has held several administrative positions in the college.
A national search was conducted for the dean's position. Perri was one of two candidates invited for campus interviews, the other being Dr. Marc Schenker, a professor and center director at the University of California at Davis.
