MIAMI, Fla. — Bill Foster defeated Kathleen Ford in St. Petersburg to become the next mayor.
With all precincts reporting Tuesday, unofficial results showed Foster with 52.74 percent of the votes and Ford with 47.26 percent.
They were vying to replace popular Mayor Rick Baker, who was limited to two four-year terms.
Results were still being tallied in Miami, where two city commissioners were running to replace outgoing Mayor Manny Diaz. Joe Sanchez wants to jump-start the economy by investing tax money in job-creating projects, while Tomas Regalado says major city-financed proposals should be put before voters.
Diaz also served two four-year terms and couldn't run again.
