SEC honors Sturgis

<p>BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis was selected as SEC special teams player of the week, the league announced Monday.</p><p>Mississippi State running back Anthony Dixon and Auburn cornerback Walt McFadden also were selected as players of the week.</p><p>Sturgis won special teams honors after kicking a career-long 56-yard field goal and making a 44-yarder in Florida’s win over Georgia.</p><p>Dixon rushed for a school-record 252 yards and two touchdowns in State’s win over Kentucky. It’s the SEC’s highest total this season.</p><p>Auburn’s McFadden tied a career-high with five tackles and returned the first of two interceptions for a touchdown against Mississippi.</p><p>Arkansas guard Mitch Petrus was offensive lineman of the week while Auburn end Antonio Coleman won defensive line honors. Tennessee defensive back Janzen Jackson was freshman of the week.</p>
