"Yes sir, I did," Saunders said when asked if he committed to Florida. "I've always wanted to go there and I just so happened to make my mind up early."
The 6-foot, 180-pound Saunders was a teammate of current Gator and former Deland running back Mike Gillislee.
Saunders said he figures to play defensive back in college, but has played all over the field for Deland. He has 120 carries for 1,000 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns through seven games this season. He's added 80 yards receiving off eight catches and two touchdowns and has 580 return yards with three touchdowns.
As a sophomore, Saunders had 22 tackles and three interceptions. He added 556 yards rushing and caught 15 passes for 238 yards. He finished the season with nine total touchdowns.
Saunders chose Florida over Texas Tech, Mississippi, Clemson and Florida State.
