The top-ranked Florida Gators play host to the Arkansas Razorbacks in their annual homecoming contest.
FIRST QUARTER
It is a chamber of commerce day in Gainesville, Fla. Perfect fall weather for football.
Arkansas' offense gets started at its own 30-yard line and immediately goes with chicanery, as a handoff-toss-reverse goes awry but the Hogs recover their own fumble. On the next play, Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett's pass is batted down at the line to the delight of a roaring crowd. The Gator defense keeps the pressure on with a delayed blitz that resulted in Mallett throwing the ball away.
After taking a punt back to its own 48-yard line, the Gators start their offense with a 22-yard pass from quarterback Tim Tebow to tight end Aaron Hernandez. On first-and-10 at the Arkansas 30, Tebow passes again, this time completing to wideout Riley Cooper for 8 yards. Tebow runs for the first down but the Gators cannot go further. Place-kicker Caleb Sturgis misses a 37-yard field goal.
After a floating Mallett pass is nearly intercepted, Dennis Johnson rips off a 42-yard run to the UF 48-yard line. Linebacker Brandon Spikes limps off the field. Mallett is sacked for a 2-yard loss and the Gator defensive line asserts itself further by stuffing Johnson for a loss. The Gators force a punt and it bounces down to the UF 9.
Arkansas' defense stuffs the Gator running game, setting up a third-and-11, but Tebow takes a big hit as he passes to Cooper for a first down. Florida sticks with the running game but goes nowhere and Tebow is sacked on third down, forcing a punt.
Florida's defense contains the 6-foot-7 Mallett, who surprises everyone by running on third-and-long. The Razorbacks have to punt and again avoid return man Brandon James.
UF tries to loosen up the Hogs defense with a deep pass, and Tebow throws a perfect pass to Cooper who cannot haul it in. The Gators go back to their running game and cannot dent the Razorbacks defense. Tebow is stripped and Arkansas recovers at the UF 31-yard line.
Mixing the pass and run, the Hogs pick up the first down to the Florida 15. After a holding call negated a touchdown run, the Hogs offense is stymied by Florida. Facing a third-and-16 from the 21, tailback Broderick Green runs for 15 yards and sets up a fourth-and-1. Arkansas goes for the QB sneak and just makes it.
First quarter: Florida 0, Arkansas 0
SECOND QUARTER
Arkansas tailback Broderick Green plunges into the line and scores a 1-yard touchdown for the Razorbacks.
Return specialist Brandon James takes the kickoff to the 35-yard line, and the Gator offense gets started with another sprint to the sideline. Jeff Demps picks up 3 yards. Tebow scrambles away from pressure and picks up 5 more yards. Tebow finds another seam in the pass rush and runs again for the first down.
Florida turns to tailback Emmanuel Moody, to the delight of the crowd, but Moody cannot get more than a couple of yards on two carries. Tebow runs again on third down and get the first down, thanks to a devastating comeback block by wideout Riley Cooper.
After Tebow connect with Cooper to set up a third-and-1 at the 11, Cooper passes incomplete on a trick play. Tebow rushes on fourth down to give the Gators a fresh set of downs, but Tebow fumbles on the 10 and Arkansas recovers.
From UF's 9-yard line, Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett passes for a loss of 5. Florida defensive tackle Omar Hunter snuffs out a run for another loss and Mallett's third-down pass is dropped. The Hogs punt from their end zone and Florida has great field position.
The Gators continue to scuffle on offense but are bailed out by a facemask penalty on Arkansas. Tebow passes to tight end Aaron Hernandez for a first down to the Arkansas 11-yard line. Tebow pitches forward to Hernandez, who fumbles and again Arkansas recovers. A nervous hush falls over the stadium.
There seems to be more urgency when the crowd cheers, "Come on Gators, get up and go!" And the defense responds with another intense stand deep in Arkansas territory. On third-and-12 from their 3, the Razorbacks get close but must punt. Once again, James gives UF excellent field position.
A frustrated Gator offense comes back out at the Arkansas 34-yard line. Tebow scrambles for 16 yards to the 17. But the Gators grind to a halt and settle for a field goal from Caleb Sturgis.
The Hogs start at their 33-yard line and Mallett reaches back and fires a strike to Greg Childs for 46 yards. Mallett completes to Green for 9 more yards, down to the UF 12. The clock is ticking but the Hogs are poised to score on first-and-goal from the 4. After an incomplete pass, the Gator defense regains its composure and gets a big sack of Mallett on second down. The Razorbacks settle for a field goal as the half ends.

THIRD QUARTER
The Gators start the second half with yet another fruitless run up the middle, and a couple of boo-birds are audible. Quarterback Tim Tebow stands in the pocket and finds receiver David Nelson for a first down. Tebow hooks up with tight end Aaron Hernandez on two straight passes, and the Gators are at the Arkansas 22-yard line.
Suddenly Florida cannot run the ball up the middle against Arkansas. The offense continues to sputter in fits and starts. Tebow passes short and receiver Deonte Thompson cannot corral the inaccurate throw. The Gators are forced to call timeout before a key third-and 9 from the 21. Tebow is sacked for a 13-yard loss to the 34. Sturgis hits a 51-yard field goal.
Arkansas return man Dennis Johnson takes the kickoff 30 yards to the Razorback 43, then carries for no gain. After a motion penalty, the Gators stuff the run again to set up a third-and-14. Mallett scrambles for 5 yards and the Hogs punt.
Florida starts on its own 7-yard line, and Tebow pounds ahead for 5 yards. Arkansas' pressure is just too much for the Gator o-line, and Tebow throws incomplete and then is sacked on third down. Chas Henry shanks the punt, and it goes out of bounds at the UF 37.
Defensive end Jermaine Cunningham gets a tremendous jump off the snap and sacks Mallett for a 7-yard loss. That sets the tone, and Arkansas has to punt again. Florida takes over at its own 7 again. Tebow completes a screen pass to Chris Rainey who gains 14 but fumbles. Arkansas recovers. The Gator defense must rescue the offense again.
After an incomplete pass, Johnson carries for 5 yards to the UF 23. Mallett passes incomplete in the end zone, and Arkansas misses a field goal wide right.
Tebow stands in the pocket and fires a deep pass complete to a wide-open Deonte Thompson who runs in for a 77-yard touchdown. Tebow has the longest touchdown pass of his career, and Florida finally has a lead.
Johnson returns the kickoff near midfield and then gives the Hogs a first down at the UF 32 by breaking at least four tackles on a sweep. He runs again up the middle for 18 yards to the UF 15. Mallett is hurried and cannot get Arkansas any further. The Razorbacks settle for the tying field goal.

FOURTH QUARTER
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow starts the final quarter with an 11-yard run up the middle. After another Tebow run, Emmanuel Moody dives for a first down. Facing a third-and-11, the Gators set up a dump-off screen but Tebow cannot get it past the Razorback defensive line and UF has to punt.
Arkansas starts at its own 13, and gets its first third-down conversion to the 31. Mallett is sacked and then fires incomplete, as the crowd flexes its collective throat. But Mallett hooks up with receiver Greg Childs, who evades UF defenders but fumbles as he runs into the end zone. He recovers the ball for a touchdown.
After James returns the kickoff to the UF 33, tailback Jeff Demps runs 19 yards to the Arkansas 48. Florida moves to the Arkansas 21 after a pass interference call in the end zone. The Hogs then commit a personal foul and UF moves to the 10. Demps dashes in for the touchdown.
The Hogs start at the 23 and quickly pick up a first down. Mallett connects for another first down on a 26-yard pass over the middle. He finds his tight end for another first down to the UF 26. On third-and-4 from the 20, running back Broderick Green is stuffed on a run up the middle. Arkansas misses the field goal.
Demps carries for 12 yards to the UF 33-yard line. Tebow hooks up with receiver Riley Cooper for 11 yards and a first down on the UF 48. The two connect again for another first down at the Arkansas 40. Two incompletions set up a third-and-10, and Tebow finds Cooper, who makes a tough catch for 12 yards.
Florida is inching its way toward a possible game-winning score as the clock winds down. Tebow runs up the middle on a designed play for 10 yards and first down on the Arkansas 19. With 41 seconds left, Tebow keeps again and runs down to the 11. Arkansas takes a timeout with 25 seconds remaining.
Tebow dives to the middle of the field to set up a kick and Arkansas takes another timeout. Place-kicker Caleb Sturgis kicks a 27-yard field goal with 9 seconds remaining.
After returning a squib kick to their own 41-yard line, the Razorbacks complete a pass to midfield and try a series of laterals. Defensive end Jermaine Cunningham tackles Jarius Wright to end the game, and the Gator sideline spills onto the field in a wild celebration.
