15 arrested as Gators open season

Fifteen overzealous Gator fans were arrested and and 36 others were ejected from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium during Saturday night's game against Charleston Southern, the University Police Department reports.

Thirteen arrests were made for possession of alcohol in the stadium, one person was arrested for fighting and one for resisting arrest.
Fans were ejected from the game for being drunk, having no ticket, sitting in the wrong section and disorderly conduct, but no one got tossed out for smoking.
This is the first game in which smoking was prohibited throughout the stadium.
