Officers have searched a Waldo home, the site of an apparent attempted arson this week that may have been aimed at destroying suspicious items police discovered in the residence.
Waldo police obtained a search warrant Monday to go through a home at 13472 N.E. 148th Ave.
A neighbor found an unsecured door at the house, prompting police to check on the building, where they found a burnt rag leading from the door and what appeared to gasoline or chemicals spread around the structure as if someone had tried to ignite a fire.
Investigators also found gun rounds, "a suspicious hole in the carpet," and dark stains.
"We've got some stuff from testing," said Waldo Police Chief Michael Szabo. But, so far, officers don't know the results of what was collected.
As of right now, Szabo said the case is being looked at as an attempted burglary and an attempted arson.
In July, officers located two men at the home who were wanted on murder charges out of Miami.
