What did you think about Urban Meyer's Sports Illustrated cover with the shades?
Oh man, I made fun of him with that one.
What did you say?
I told him that's not his style. He needs to stick to just the stern look and just stand there. He needs to stay off of the cover of magazines. I gave him a hard time with that one, just because it's not his style. That's not how he likes to look.
What's the worst part about a practice like this, shaking off of the rust after being limited in the spring with an ankle injury or getting up early to be at the field at 6 a.m.?
I'd say the rust, just because I didn't practice the whole spring, and it's been a while since I've been out here. Just being out here with the guys and getting back into the groove, it takes a few days. Waking up for 6 a.m. is nothing because we did that all summer. The hardest part is shaking off the rust.
Do you guys ever talk about going undefeated?
Never. Never. We take it one day at a time. Right now, our focus is to just get through camp healthy and with the right mindset and with the right team chemistry. Wins, losses, we don't talk about that right now. We talk about camp, then we'll talk about Charleston Southern and then Troy, then Tennessee.
That's got to be easier to talk about with Riley Cooper back.
It does. Not just because what he brings us on the football field, but what he brings off of the field. He's a tremendous guy to have in our meeting room. He's a fun guy to hang out with and to be with. He just brings a different element to the football field. He's a hard-nosed receiver who will do anything for the football team and does everything he can do. He's a guy that springs the runs from 20 yards to a touchdown.
When did you find out that he was coming back and not taking a Major League Baseball contract?
I knew he was coming back Saturday or Sunday. He was working out the final details of his contract and it looked like he was coming back.
How did you react when you found out?
I just kind of gave him a hard time. I told him 'Well, you're out of shape and you've got to catch up with these young guys that have been working out all summer.' I just gave him a hard time. He hasn't been here for three months, so we've got to make up for lost time.
