Q&A with the Pouncey twins
Last Modified: Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 4:34 p.m.
What did you guys think of the Sports Illustrated cover with Urban Meyer and his glasses?
Maurkice: That's hilarious. It's probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Us, Tim (Tebow) and the rest of the linemen went out to eat and we joked about it the whole time.
What did you say to Coach Meyer about it?
Maurkice: We just talked about him in the picture with his nice little shades on. We made fun of him about it.
Has he been a good sport about it?
Maurkice: He tries to.
They say twins have a freaky type of connection, like you can read one another's minds and feel it when the other is hurt. Is that true?
Mike: I wish it was, man. That doesn't work for us. It must be for girls or something.
Maurkice: Sometimes we can finish what the other one is saying, but we think the same things all the time. But we don't feel each other or anything like that.
A receiver that has no problem going over the middle: is he brave or stupid?
Mike: He's got to be stupid. Some of the safeties in this conference, they'll take his head off. That's something you've got to just rep in practice.
Who's the most stylish player on the field?
Mike: It's got to be (Brandon) Spikes.
Maurkice: That's just him as a player, you know? He's got a little swag to him.
Mike: He told me that if you look good, you play good.
Is it true?
Mike: Yeah, it is true.
Do you guys ever talking about going undefeated?
Maurkice: Nah, we just want to win one game at a time.
Mike: We want to earn every one of them.
How does it feeling being back out here?
Mike: The first day is always good. You've just got to make it through the last day.
But getting up at 6 a.m., that's got to be tough, right?
Maurkice: 6 a.m.? Shoot, I woke up at 4:30.
What do you do that early? How do you prepare for a 6 a.m. practice?
Mike: Set your alarm clock early. Come in and get a little breakfast in you. Sit there and listen to the iPod or something.
What's the best thing to listen to before a practice?
Maurkice: Usually I listen to Young Jeezy. That's gets you motivated quick.
What's something on your iPods that might surprise some people?
Mike: "It's Amazing" (by Kanye West). That's all we listen to.
Maurkice: For me, it's probably the same. That and some Young Jeezy.
So you guys probably enjoyed those commercials during the NBA Playoffs that used "It's Amazing," right?
Mike: Yeah, we enjoyed them a lot. I'm a Kobe fan, so I'm always enjoying the playoffs.
