Troopers are planning a checkpoint for this year's Fourth of July holiday in Alachua County.
The checkpoint currently is scheduled to start Friday at 10 p.m. on U.S. 441, said Florida Highway Patrol Capt. Coby Fincher.
Plans for the checkpoint, including its location, were based on the anticipated holiday traffic and based on prior reports of stops and arrests for driving under influence along the roadway, according to FHP.
The checkpoint, which will be near SW 25th Place and north of Williston Road, is set to last until 2 a.m. on Saturday, FHP reported.
