Tebow plays a round with Phil Mickelson

With Florida in between semester breaks, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow had time to work on his golf game in his hometown of Jacksonville. His playing partner? Fellow lefty, PGA Tour star Phil Mickelson.


Mickelson, in town for The Players Championship at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, warmed up Wednesday off-site at Timuquana Country Club, a private course in Jacksonville.

"I heard he might do that," UF coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday night before speaking at a Gator Gathering in Jacksonville. "I'm curious how it went.

"I played with Tim one time. He crushes it. He's better than you'd think, and he doesn't work at it."

The word Wednesday night was that Tebow shot an 82 Wednesday.
