Gov. Charlie Crist announced the appointment Wednesday. Established in 2007, the council was created to promote health and wellness in the state.
Tebow will serve alongside chair Derrick Brooks, former linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and co-chair Shannon Miller, Olympic gold medalist gymnast.
Members of the council include school representatives, health care practitioners and members of advocacy groups. The group is charged with developing a plan to increase physical fitness through exercise.
