Grading the UF '09 class

Quarterback: With only two scholarship QBs on the roster, the Gators needed to sign one, possibly two. They picked up four-star prospect Jordan Reed, who seems a perfect fit for the spread. Grade: B
Running back: Not a priority with so many young tailbacks on the roster. The coaches are very high on lone signee Mike Gillislee. Grade: B.
Receiver: Andre Debose is rated the nation's No. 2 wide receiver. He has some Percy Harvin-like speed and skills, and should have an immediate impact. Grade: A.
Offensive line: This was a huge need, and the Gators filled it with five prospects, a complete line. Tackle Xavier Nixon could see the field early. Grade: A.
Defensive line: Fending off FSU for tackle Gary Brown was huge. He's a five-star prospect who could contribute right away. End Kedric Johnson will need time to develop. Grade: B+
Linebacker: Not a huge need, but the Gators managed to pick up one of the nation's highest-ranked prospects in Jelani Jenkins. Grade: B+
Secondary: Josh Evans is a nice late addition who could play safety or corner. UF would like to have added one more cornerback. Grade: B
Overall: The Gators signed three five-star players (Debose, Brown and Jenkins) and secured eight players ranked among ESPN's top 150 in the nation. Debose was UF's No. 1 target, and he was the first to sign on Wednesday. Grade: B+
