Men's tennis advances to Round of 16

The No. 7 Florida menís tennis team (4-0) defeated No. 15 Texas A&M (2-1), 6-1, on Saturday in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship Round of 32 at Linder Stadium.
The Gators advance to the Round of 16 in Chicago, Ill. on Feb. 13-16.
Sophomores Jeff Dadamo and Johnny Hamui cruised to a 4-0 lead against the Marcus Lunt and Wil Spencer before allowing the Aggies pair to put their first and only point on the scoreboard. Dadamo and Hamui finished the match, 8-1.
The No. 3 pair of sophomore Alex Lacroix and freshman Carlos Cueto clinched the doubles point for Florida, downing Austin Klores and Colin Hoover, 8-3, in just under 40 minutes.
Hamui was the first to finish for the Gators, defeating A&Mís Kayvon Karimi, 6-1, 6-2, to give Florida a 2-0 advantage over the Aggies. Dadamo was next for the Gators, taking one hour and 15 minutes to knock off Hoover, 6-4, 6-3.
Within one minute, 63rd-ranked Joey Burkhardt clinched the fourth-straight dual match win for the Gators. The freshman quietly downed Lunt in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
In his second match of the spring against a top-25 opponent, Cueto needed only two sets to down No. 12 Pollock, 6-3, 6-3. Cueto is now 3-0 from court one for the Gators. Also defeating a ranked opponent was Lacroix, who took out 8th-ranked Spencer in an intense match, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).
