Road work is expected to begin next week on about three miles of U.S. 129 in Suwannee County, the Florida Department of Transportation reported.

Crews will begin resurfacing the roadway, which runs from the Gilchrist County line at the Santa Fe River Bridge to the U.S. 27 intersection, the agency reported.

The project should be completed in about 30 days but may take longer due to weather delays. Anderson Columbia Company Inc. of Lake City has been hired to complete the work at a cost of $578,000, DOT reported.

The section of roadway was last resurfaced in 1995.
