Five things to watch

Gator GameDay

Who: Gaorgia at Florida
Tipoff: 8 p.m.
Site: O’Connell Center
Radio: AM-850, 103.7 FM

1. Georgia's size

The Bulldogs have struggled early in Southeastern Conference play, but have some players capable of giving Florida trouble underneath the basket. Starting center Albert Jackson (6-foot-10, 265 pounds) is two inches taller and 45 pounds heavier than UF center Alex Tyus. Georgia sophomore forward Jeremy Price (6-8, 264 pounds) and freshman forward/center Trey Thompkins (6-9, 247 pounds) are capable post scorers that come off the bench.

2. Florida's press

At home, look for Florida to press early and often against Georgia's inexperienced guards. The Bulldogs turn the ball over 17.4 times per game and are relying on sophomore Zac Swansey and freshman Dustin Ware. Senior forward Terrance Woodbury is versatile enough to help bring the ball up, though Georgia will be relying on Woodbury more to score throughout the game.

3. The 3-point line

Florida made a school-record 12 3-pointers in the first half and 15 in its last game against Vanderbilt. But the Gators should get a stiffer test from the perimeter against a Georgia team that's holding teams to just 29.6 percent from 3-point range. Meanwhile, Georgia will look for big games from guards Corey Butler (41.0 percent from 3-point range) and Ricky McPhee (42.3 percent) behind the arc.

4. Nick of time

Florida sophomore point guard Nick Calathes has been facing more double-teams of late as teams are trying to pressure him off screens at the top of the key. Calathes has had nine assists to eight turnovers over his last two games but should be able to get back on track against Georgia's undersized, inexperienced backcourt.

5. Florida's bench

Despite Florida's lack of experience on the bench (six freshmen, including walk-on Kyle McClanahan), the Gators have outscored their opponents bench in 15 of 20 games this season. Freshman guard Erving Walker posted a career-high 17 points off the bench Sunday against Vanderbilt and freshman center Kenny Kadji is scoring 7.4 points per game in SEC play.
