The University of Florida Police traffic unit will focus on skateboard safety and enforcement during a special detail scheduled Wednesday, the law enforcement agency reported.
The saturation detail is aimed at skateboard use around campus.
Skateboards can be operated on sidewalks and through campus crosswalks but aren't supposed to be used in the roads or bike lanes, police reported.
"The goal of this detail is to increase awareness of skateboard restrictions and increase safety to the pedestrians on our campus," according to a statement from the police department.
The detail will last from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and will cover the entire UF campus.
The enforcement operation is the first saturation detail for the spring semester operated by the UF Police traffic unit. More details, which will focus on other issues, are planned throughout the year.
