ORANGE SPRINGS — Eric Kisielewski, 25, of Orange Springs in Putnam County died after being shot with a 12-gauge shotgun about 10 a.m. Sunday while hunting with a family acquaintance on private property in Putnam County.
Kisielewski's hunting partner, William R. Goethe, 33, of Ocala told Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers that the two men were hunting hogs and walking through heavy brush when the shotgun discharged. Kisielewski was walking ahead of Goethe, who was carrying the gun, when it went off. The double-aught buckshot hit Kisielewski, killing him.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. Alcohol was not a factor, according to FWC spokesperson Lt. Joy Hill.
Hill said that investigators believe this was a hunting accident. FWC officers are leading the investigation with assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
