Girls soccer roundup: Santa Fe captures 2nd district crown

Jayme Lamb scored two goals and Kathleen Murphy passed out three assists as Santa Fe rallied to get by Green Cove Springs Clay 3-2 in Friday night’s District 3-4A championship match at Middleburg.
Despite trailing by two goals, Santa Fe (19-5-2) scored three times in the final 17 minutes to win the school’s second district title.
Murphy assisted on Lindsey Rivas’ goal in the 63rd minute, before setting up Lamb a minute later to tie the score at 2-2. Lamb scored the title-winning goal off a corner kick from Murphy in the second-to-last minute of the contest.
Santa Fe, making its fourth regional-playoff appearance in the last six years, will host Jacksonville Bishop Kenny in Thursday’s Region 1-4A quarterfinal.
District 1-6A: Buchholz was denied its third straight district crown as it fell 1-0 to Neptune Beach Fletcher Friday night in Orange Park.
The Bobcats (17-4-3) out-shot Fletcher 17-5. Brittany Hardin made four saves in goal for Buchholz, which advances to the regional playoffs for the 10th straight season.
The Bobcats, making their 23rd overall playoff appearance, travel to Bunnell Flagler Palm Coast for Thursday’s Region 1-6A quarterfinal.
District 5-3A: The Indians captured their second-straight district title with a 3-1 win over Pierson Taylor on Friday night in Interlachen.
Keystone Heights, making its ninth regional playoff appearance in the last 10 seasons, hosts Umatilla in Thursday’s regional quarterfinal.
