The Florida Highway Patrol wants drivers in Alachua County to know that drivers license and vehicle inspection checkpoints will be in use until January 29.

FHP plants to establish checkpoints on the following area roads: State Road 24, SW 63rd Blvd., County Road 239, SW 91st St., SE 43rd St., and University Ave. west of 75th St.

In a news release about the checkpoints, FHP said checkpoints are an effective way to enforce Florida's equipment and drivers license laws. Specifically, troopers will be looking for worn or defective brakes, tires and lights.
