TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — House Speaker Ray Sansom says he is confident he will be cleared of any wrongdoing for taking a job at a Panhandle college he steered millions of dollars to as a lawmaker.
In his first press conference since resigning the controversial job at a college, Sansom said Thursday he was confident he could effectively lead the House even while under investigation.
The Destin Republican has spent the last two months defending his decision to take the job at Northwest Florida State College before saying in early January he will resign at the end of the month. He still faces an ethics complaint and a possible grand jury indictment.
He said today: "I feel very confident that I will come out clean, innocent."
