Police identified a man who female students at a school bus stop said had been taking photographs of them last week. But officers said the man wasn’t photographing the teenagers but the bus stop itself.

The students reported the suspicious incident after seeing a man photographing the bus stop at NW 46th Street and NW 23rd Avenue at about 8 a.m. on Jan. 12. One student shouted at the man, who then drove away.

Officers were able to track down the man and, after contacting him, learned he had been photographing the stop, not the students, because of concerns about the location. Police determined nothing criminal had occurred, said Gainesville Police spokeswoman Officer Summer Hallett.

Officers praised the students for reporting the incident, even though ultimately police determined nothing criminal had occurred.
