Witnesses are getting the credit for stopping an apparent beer keg theft spree. The suspect arrested in the case on Sunday afternoon was identified as Michael Jose Miranda, 24, of 3415 SW 39th Blvd.

Miranda was charged with burglary, two counts of larceny, two counts of dealing in stolen property, and possession of marijuana.

Alachua County Sheriff's Office spokesman Art Forgey said a couple of witnesses saw Miranda loitering around The Estates apartment complex at 3527 SW 20th Ave. The witnesses told deputies they followed Miranda to the Pinnacle Point apartments at 3640 SW 20th Ave. and saw him carrying out a keg that he took to Tailgate Beverage at 4340 SW 20th Ave.

Deputies said Miranda received $15 for turning in the keg seen by witnesses and had received $15 from a keg reportedly taken earlier in the day from the Kensington South apartment complex.

Miranda was being held at the Alachua County Jail on Tuesday. His bond was set at $7,000.
