BARTOW, Fla. — Authorities say they've arrested a Davenport woman responsible for the fatal hit-and-run of a 17-year-old Haines City girl.
Polk County deputies say they received an anonymous tip Saturday night from someone who had seen the news coverage of Samantha Hasting's death. The tipster had spotted damage to a vehicle that belonged to 20-year-old Candy Marie Cummings.
When deputies questioned Cummings, they say she told them she had hit something Friday night in the area where Hasting had been found.
Cummings was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license. She was being held on $15,500 bail. Additional charges are pending.
