A 9-year-old boy and a Gainesville woman were killed early Sunday morning in a single-car crash just east of the Gainesville Regional Airport on State Road 26.

Virginia L. Robert, 28, of Gainesville was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 east on State Road 26 when the truck traveled off the south shoulder of the road and struck a tree on the right side of the car.

Robert and Marvin M. Minton III of Interlachen were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third passenger, Joshua Austin Minton, who turned 9 last month, was transported to Shands at the University of Florida with minor injuries.

Neither Robert, Marvin Minton nor Joshua Minton were wearing a seatbelt. The relationship between the three was unknown.

The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. just past the Hatchet Creek bridge where the road makes a slight turn to the left.
