A Palatka man died early Thursday in a fiery wreck after his pickup struck a tree and burst into flames, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
John A. Durham, 25, was killed in the single-vehicle crash at 137 Buffalo Bluff Road, southwest of Palatka, according to troopers. The crash occurred at about 2:40 a.m.
Durham had been driving south on the road when he drove off the road’s right shoulder, troopers reported. The driver attempted to get back on the road but overcorrected and lost control of the pickup. The vehicle headed into a ditch before flying through the air and striking a tree.
The pickup caught fire with Durham trapped inside, according to FHP.
