A child died in a single-vehicle crash in Suwannee County Saturday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Ayllisa Jones, 11, of O’Brien was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash on 89th Road, about three miles north of O’Brien, according to troopers. Jones was ejected from the vehicle in the wreck, which occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday.

The vehicle’s driver, Nicole Marie Sallas, 24, of O’Brien, was in serious condition after the crash, FHP reported.

Two other children were in the vehicle, said FHP Lt. Patrick Riordan. No additional information about them was available Monday morning.

Sallas, who was driving a 2003 Pontiac, had been heading south on 89th Road when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, according to troopers. The Pontiac traveled up an embankment and rolled over. Jones was thrown from the vehicle.

Neither Sallas or Jones were wearing a seat belt, troopers reported.
