Rain Monday and Tuesday will be followed by severe cold with lows in the upper 20s for much of north Florida including Gainesville and Ocala later this week.
State officials warned Floridians Monday about a series of cold fronts sweeping through the state. One front moved through the area Sunday. Another is expected to arrive overnight and a third on Thursday.
Subfreezing temperatures are predicted around north Florida, in mainly inland areas north of Ocala. Below freezing temperatures will continue into the weekend when highs will only reach the low to mid 60s in the Gainesville and Ocala areas, the National Weather Service in Jacksonville warned.
