Florida sophomore point guard Nick Calathes was named Southeastern Conference player of the week Monday.
Calathes flirted with a triple-double in both of his games last week, averaging 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists in Florida wins over Longwood and Ole Miss.
"It's a great honor," Calathes said. "I just hope we keep winning. I share that with the team because it wasn't just me."
For the season, Calathes is leading Florida in scoring (17.1 ppg), assists (6.8 pg) and steals (36). With 108 assists, Calathes is on pace to break the school record for assists (221) he set as a freshman last season.
Florida takes an eight-game winning streak into its first SEC road game of the season Wednesday night at Auburn.
Calathes is the first Florida player to earn player of the week honors in two seasons. Corey Brewer was the last Florida SEC player of week, earning honors on Feb. 12, 2007.
