Florida coach Urban Meyer and Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops both talked about their advice to players on whether to leave college football early for the NFL draft.
Meyer said that when he first came to Florida he would keep those opinions to himself. Now, he said, given the near-familial relationships between coaches and players at UF, he tries to help them make the right decision.
Meyer said he puts the players in touch with the right people, like Bill Belichick or Jack Del Rio.
Asked whether he'd try to convince junior quarterback Tim Tebow, who has filed papers with the NFL, to stay for his senior year, Meyer said: "Absolutely not."
Stoops said his advice to players is that they need to look at the financial value of staying longer and going higher in the draft.
"You need to get your value," Stoops said. "In that league, it's not for long, that's what the NFL stands for. ... Get our value."
