A U.S. Navy sailor on leave was arrested in Gainesville early Saturday morning on charges of giving five minors liquor and molesting one of them, according to an arrest report.
Felipe Garibay, 27, whose address is listed as the USS Gettysburg based in Mayport, was charged with five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, five counts of child abuse and one count of lewd and lascivious molestation, reported the Gainesville Police Department.
Garibay was in town with a shipmate, who police said was not involved in the incident.
It took place at the Whitney Mobile Home Park at 8401 NW 13th St., police said.
The five victims ranged in age from 11 to 16, according to the arrest report.
Police allege Garibay coerced and persuaded the children to drink vodka and cranberry juice.
The report said the children were "visibly upset and shaken" and told him they did not want the drinks.
The report states that Garibay got one girl, age 12, to sit on his lap and then groped her without her consent. The other children witnessed it, police said.
Each child was treated by emergency medical personnel because of the alcohol investigation. The girl who was molested was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the report.
