Former Gator Joakim Noah took a penalty from Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro and turned it into a career night just before the ball dropped on 2008.
Noah, along with teammates Tyrus Thomas and Larry Hughes were fined an undisclosed amount by Del Negro prior to Wednesday's game for conduct detrimental to the team. The fines stemmed from the Bulls' road victory Monday in New Jersey when Del Negro reminded players of a rule in the team handbook prohibiting pregame eating in the locker room.
The players fined reportedly said something about Del Negro that the coach overheard.
Noah took the fines to heart, but it wasn't enough to hold off a 113-94 blowout loss to the Magic. Noah logged career-high totals with 19 points and 11 rebounds, he also drew a technical foul as emotions rose during the game. The performance was overshadowed by a large group of home fans in Chicago that booed their team.
"It's embarrassing to lose that way," Noah said. "We got booed by our home crowd. So there's not that much to be happy about."
