Gainesville police are looking for a man who robbed a CVS Pharmacy just before midnight Wednesday, wishing customers a "Happy New Year" as he left the store.

The man entered the pharmacy, at 3404 Archer Road, about 11:50 p.m., according to police.

He picked up a package of paper towels and initially waited in line behind several customers.

He then walked behind the counter with one hand in his jacket pocket and said, "You know what this is, give me the money or I'll shoot you," police reported.

He removed the contents from two registers as seven customers watched.

Police reported that the man casually walked out, waved to clerks and gave the New Year's greeting to customers.

He is described as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, 6-feet-2, 190 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black varsity-style jacket with brown sleeves and "Titans" on the back.

Anyone with information can call Lt. Rob Koehler at 339-6185.
