Harvin still a question mark

As much as Percy Harvin means to Florida's offense, coach Urban Meyer isn't rushing his star back from his ankle injury.

"I won't put a stopwatch on it or anything like that," Meyer said of Harvin's availability for the Southeastern Conference Championship Saturday. "If he can play, he can play."
The junior receiver suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter of last week's Florida State game and according to Meyer has logged in about 10 hours a day in the training room since.
Harvin spent Wednesday and Thursday in an exercise pool and Meyer said he will attempt to run on grass Friday.
"Dallas Baker a couple years ago had the same (ankle injury)," Meyer said. "I don't know how serve (it was) compared to (Harvin's injury), but they blocked him down in a boot and we got something out of him Friday and he played in the game (Saturday)."
With Harvin either out or limited this weekend, Meyer hinted at the idea of having freshmen tailbacks Chris Rainey and Jeffrey Demps taking a few direct snaps out of the backfield.
However, Rainey enters the game a little banged up as well. He limped off the practice field Thursday with what Meyer said is a groin injury that has bothered him for the past five weeks.
Meyer said that while Rainey might require surgery to repair his groin during the offseason, he doesn't expect the injury to limit him this weekend.
All-Americans
Harvin and junior linebacker Brandon Spikes were named to the 2008 American Football Coaches Association All-America Team, the AFCA announced Thursday.
Harvin is averaging 103 all-purpose yards per game for UF and has 16 touchdowns in 2008 (nine rushing and seven receiving). He has scored a touchdown in each of the last 14 games he has played in, which is the best in the nation.
Harvin has 538 rushing yards off 61 carries this season. Harvin also leads the Gators with 35 catches and 595 receiving yards.
Spikes leads the Gators with 80 total tackles (eight for loss), has two sacks and four interceptions on the season. Spikes is one of five linebackers in the nation to have two interceptions returned for touchdowns in 2008. He has led the Gators in tackles in 10 of the last 16 games he has played in, recording 10-or-more tackles in five of his last 13.
Meyer Talks Tuberville
A day after Tommy Tuberville resigned at Auburn after 10 years, Meyer commented a little on Tuberville's situation.
"That's none of my business, other than I coached against him and I know him," he said. "He's a tremendous football coach and he's won a lot of games there. My initial reaction is probably like everyone else, certainly in the coaching industry, is ‘What?'
"Who knows what goes on behind closed doors?"
Auburn remains the lone team that Meyer has yet to beat in the SEC as UF's coach.
