It's official. Five-star recruit guard Kenny Boynton has signed a letter of intent to play at Florida beginning in the 2009-10 season.

Florida received the letter from Boynton on Wednesday, the first day of the fall NCAA scholarship signing period.

Boynton, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior at American Heritage High in Plantation, is considered one of the top scoring threats in his class. He's been rated as high as the second-best shooting guard in the nation in most major recruiting Web sites.

"He's an explosive scorer," Florida coach Billy Donovan said. "But I think one thing that people don't talk enough about when it comes to him in my opinion is I think he's a great competitor and a great defender."

Florida is still awaiting signed letters of intent from forwards Erik Murphy and DeShawn Painter. The three potential scholarship players would put Florida one scholarship over the school limit (13) to start the 2009 season.
