Florida got the fourth member of its 2010 recruiting class when Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., Boyd Anderson safety Demar Dorsey verbally committed to the Gators on Saturday.

Dorsey, who was in attendance for the Kentucky game, said he committed shortly after the game.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Dorsey said he was first approached about the possibility of an offer from Florida during his sophomore year. Because he was unable to speak with the coaching staff about officially getting an offer, he had to wait until his junior year to get his scholarship offer.

Dorsey said he has always been a fan of the Gators and has been taking trips to Gainesville since he was in middle school to see games.

"Since I was little I would always tell my mom, ‘I'm gonna be a Gator because I've always been a Gator fan and I wish I could go to the Gators,' " Dorsey said. "I knew they were going to offer me since my 10th-grade year, so I was like, if Florida offers me I'm gonna take it."

Even when he was officially offered on Sept. 1, Dorsey said he waited before he committed in order to look over the other offers he had, but Florida was always his top school.

Dorsey primarily plays safety for Boyd Anderson, but said he was recruited by Florida as a defensive back and said he could line up anywhere in the secondary.

Dorsey chose the Gators over Miami, Florida State, North Carolina, Rutgers, West Virginia, South Florida and Central Florida.

With almost two years left before he can sign a letter of intent, Dorsey said he still plans to take visits to other schools, but says he is very solid to the Gators.

"Ever since I first visited there I was always really interested in Florida and I think it's the place for me," he said. "I fit in good there."
