The painful and frustrating senior season continues for offensive guard Jim Tartt.

Once again, his chronic shoulder problem is costing him another game. He will miss Saturday's game against Kentucky. It will be the fourth game he has missed this season.

"He has a new brace, but he did not practice today," UF coach Urban Meyer said after Wednesday's practice. "He will not go this week. But there's a chance for next week (against Georgia)."

Sophomore Carl Johnson will start his third game in a row in place of Tartt.

In other injury news, outside linebacker Dustin Doe (sports hernia) and tailback Emmanuel Moody (ankle) practiced Wednesday and are expected to play Saturday. Doe has missed the last three games, while Moody has been out for the last two.

"Moody is a little sorer than yesterday, but there's a chance he'll get some reps (in Saturday's game)," Meyer said.

Also, sophomore defensive tackle Brandon Antwine, who missed Tuesday's practice with a sore back, returned Wednesday and will play Saturday, Meyer said.

Redshirt sophomore safety Bryan Thomas, who missed most of the spring and preseason with a knee injury, has returned to practice, but is not a factor at this time, Meyer said.

Kestahn still No. 1

Despite back-to-back 100-yard rushing games by true freshman Jeff Demps, Meyer said senior Kestahn Moore is listed as the starter for Saturday at tailback.

"But it's by committee," Meyer said of the tailback position. "I hope we have all four of them (Moore, Demps, Moody and Chris Rainey) ready to go."

Redshirt for Brown

Meyer said true freshman cornerback Jeremy Brown continues to be bothered by a bad back and will redshirt this season.

Brown was an early enrollee who was pushing for serious playing time in the spring.

"He and Janoris Jenkins (a starter at cornerback as a true freshman) were pretty neck-and-neck coming out of spring and you see the year Janoris is having," Meyer said. "He would have played. But he's had that back that he had in high school. We'll try to get that fixed as soon as we can."

Meyer said the decision has not been made on whether to redshirt true freshman defensive tackle Omar Hunter, who has been plagued by injuries, the latest being a severely sprained ankle.

Presidential talk

Meyer said there has been a lot of talk among the players around the locker room in recent weeks about the upcoming presidential election.

"I love when our guys talk about that kind of stuff, and I actually hear them a little bit this year," Meyer said. "I think it's great. That's very mature. When I was 18, that wasn't at the top of my list. God bless them."

Jenkins confident

Jenkins, who has started at cornerback since the fourth game of the season, said the jump from Pahokee High School to college football hasn't been all that difficult.

"Not really," he said. "Just go out and ball, go play. It ain't the same (as high school), it's just a little faster and there are a lot of good athletes we play who are up to your level of talent."

Jenkins said he doesn't know much about standout UK true freshman wide receiver Randall Cobb, who caught two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to rally the Wildcats to a victory over Arkansas.

"I really don't know him," Jenkins said. "I've seen him on film and he's a pretty good freshman. Like I said, go play."
