OCALA — Trinity Catholic wide receiver Kadron Boone was extended a scholarship offer from the University of Florida last week, even though the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder is just a junior.

Boone followed up his first official offer with an eight-catch, two-touchdown effort in a 38-27 win over second-ranked Class 1A North Florida Christian on Friday night.

“It was a shock,” Boone said after posting 183 yards receiving. “I thought (Florida) would offer me, but I didn’t think they would be the first one.

“I’m definitely interested in them. Everything’s going real good right now.”

Boone is coming off an ACL injury that forced him to miss his entire sophomore season after getting some varsity playing time as a freshman.

Boone currently leads Marion County schools with 26 catches for 569 yards and eight touchdowns for the 5-0, second-ranked Celtics.
