TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Charlie Crist has appointed a state appeals court judge to the Florida Supreme Court.
Crist appointed Judge Ricky L. Polston of the Tallahassee-based 1st District Court of Appeal on Wednesday. The 52-year-old Polston replaces Justice Kenneth Bell, whose resignation was effective Wednesday.
Polston had participated in an appellate ruling that preceded the Supreme Court's decision banning school vouchers. The appeals court also ruled the vouchers were unconstitutional but on different grounds.
The other nominees were Judge Peter Webster, also of the 1st District Court of Appeal, and Circuit Judge Waddell Wallace III, of Jacksonville.
