FORT MYERS, Fla. – Authorities say a semitrailer carrying nearly 2,000 cases of wine was reported stolen from a truck stop in Fort Myers.
The driver, Luis Ramirez, told deputies Monday that he was inside the truck stop from around 2 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. When he went back outside, his blue Kenworth truck — containing more than $100,000 worth of wine — was gone.
Ramirez told authorities the truck wasn't locked because the locks weren't working, and the vehicle was not equipped with a security system.
