Like many country stars, Chuck Wicks became that way by moving to Nashville as an unknown and diving headfirst into the world of commercial songwriting.
By some accounts, the Deleware native was writing nearly 100 songs a year after moving to country music's capital in 2002.
One of those songs, "Stealing Cinderella" became a breakthrough hit in Hicks in 2007 and led to his debut album, "Starting Now," which was released in Janaury.
His current hit, "All I Ever Wanted," remains at No. 14 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart after five months in release.
Wicks met and began dating fellow rising country star Julianne Hough this summer on the Paisley Party tour that brings the singer tonight to the O'Connell Center.
While originally announced to appear at tonight's show, Hough had to bow out due to a prior commitment to appear on "Dancing with the Stars."
"I'm so glad I met her," Wicks told the Palm Beach Post about Hough. "She puts a big old smile on my face. I think a lot of people are going to find out what a sweetheart she is the more they get to know her, and I think people are going to fall in love with her even more."
