Soccer mom, Sarah Palin is governor of a state with less population than Jacksonville, was mayor of a city the size of Clewiston, and now she is McCain’s vice-presidential running mate.

She stood with McCain during her debut speech and declared she was against building the bridge to nowhere when, during her campaign speeches for governor, she was for the bridge. Prior to McCain making her his running mate she asked an interviewer ”What does a vice-president do, anyway?”

I want my vice-president to know what the job is all about.

Also, McCain is 78; could the United States suddenly have soccer mom as president? Does she know what a president does?

Oh, in answer to another editorial; can a white person go behind the voting curtain and vote for a black candidate? You betcha! And so can that white person’s white husband, her white mom, her white colleagues and her white neighbors.

The measure is the man and what he stands for, not his color.

Chelé Aulabaugh,

Gainesville
