It's almost here but you still have to get through most of August until football season finally arrives. So we're giving you a daily football fix leading right up to the first games on Aug. 28. Sun sports writers Pat Dooley and Robbie Andreu will provide lists, trivia, Swampcasts and essays to get you through the rest of the summer.

Proud Gator-hater Mark Bradley at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution ranked the SEC's most obnoxious fans. You can see it here: http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/bradley/entries/2008/08/21/ranking_obnoxious_sec_football.html

He ranks Florida as having the most obnoxious fans. What a shocker.

You could certainly make an argument for Gator fans who were full of themselves before they won anything and got really cocky when they dominated the 1990s. But you could also make a big argument for fans of about a half-dozen SEC teams.

That's what makes the SEC great. The fans are so passionate that it borders on obnoxious. And often it crosses the line.

You can't find any campus with more obnoxious fans on a Saturday night than at LSU. Georgia fans are trying to take it to another level right now. Tennessee? Have you seen my e-mails?

My rankings would be:

1. Alabama.

2. LSU.

3. Florida.

4. Georgia.

5. Tennessee.

6. Auburn.

7. Arkansas.

8. Mississippi State.

9. South Carolina.

10. Mississippi.

11. Kentucky.

12. Vandy.

Bradley ranks Mississippi State last. That is a joke. But then again, I've seen them stun Florida on two different occasions in Starkville.

Vandy should be last. I've yet to run into an obnoxious Commodores fans. Either one of them.

Certainly, because I cover Florida my view of the Gator fans is different than someone who goes to the annual Outdoor Cocktail Party wearing red and black undies or a Vol fan who still blames Steve Spurrier for the economy.

Heck, I'll have a house full of them next week. They are all fairly sane and I've only referred to one of them as obnoxious. Most Gator fans I meet are great people. Of course, most fans I meet in all 12 SEC cities are great people. I try not to let the jerks change my view of a program. Or a Web site.
