It's almost here, but you still have to get through most of August until football season finally arrives. So we're giving you a daily football fix leading right up to the first games on Aug. 28. Sun sports writers Pat Dooley and Robbie Andreu will provide lists, trivia, Swampcasts and essays to get you through the rest of the summer.

Today, Dooley offers up:
Five Things I'm Not Buying in 2008
1. Clemson as a national title contender: Talent? Sure. Rabid fans? Absolutely. Weak conference. Mm-hmm. But I've seen this movie before.
2. Florida and Georgia facing each other unbeaten: It would be nice and make it the biggest Cocktail Party ever, but there are too many tough teams standing in the way between now and Nov. 1.
3. Casey Dick: Bobby Petrino is a quarterback guru and I know the Arkansas quarterback had a big spring game, but if Dick turns out to be one of the better throwing quarterbacks in the SEC I'll be stunned. I've seen him play.
4. Ron Prince's contract extension: Two years, 12 wins at Kansas State. And then he signs 19 junior college players. That's not a way to build a program.
5. The state of Texas: The Longhorns are in everybody's top 10 and Texas Tech is sneaking into some of them. A&M received votes. I think they're going to get a heaping plate of average in the state.
